“About one in 5 U.S. hospitals with intensive care units, or 583 total hospitals, recently reported that at least 95 percent of their I.C.U. beds were full. In the week ending Aug. 5, an average of 74 percent of intensive care hospital beds were occupied nationwide, according to a dataset released weekly by the Department of Health and Human Services.” ~The New York Times
Covid Update
Due to the increase in infections resulting from the Delta variant of the Corona virus around the country and the inundation of hospitals, we have decided that for the foreseeable future we are not going to serve any meals or host any large groups of unvaccinated or mixed vaccinated/unvaccinated people indoors in any buildings at Scullbinder Ranch, masks or no masks. All meals will be served outside at small tables placed at least six feet apart from one another. And anyone who enters the main house to use the bathrooms must wear a mask at all reasonable times if there are any unvaccinated people present.
Also, only family members or friends who are vaccinated
and/or who already live together may share the glamping tents. For this reason, we are likely going to switch to one and two-person tents for 2022 instead of having larger, shared tents.
(Covid sucks)
All our staff and guides will be required to be vaccinated. And we will follow the stricter procedures we implemented last year. Click here to read our Covid Policies & Procedures.
Luckily, due to the nature of our business and our typically small group size, we are confident that we can protect our guests and our staff and guides from contracting the Delta variant. But, we are taking extra precautions due to the contagious nature of this disease.
In other news… we hope you enjoy these pics of our sweet, well-behaved puppy, Saddle, and that it assuages this bummer of a covid update. Saddle is now six months old, and we are both in love with him. The Radavist wrote a nice article about a packrafting trip they took with us in June. Read it here.
Steve is off to Alaska tomorrow to repeat the Nebesna to McCarthy bikeraft trip, with a much larger packrafting component. He will also do a second trip. We are moving into the Ranch full time this September. Yay! Doom finally shaved his raggedy mountain man beard. And, last but not least, Doom proposed to Lizzy in May. They’ll be getting married at Scullbinder Ranch May 2022.
Sincerely,
Lizzy & Doom
