You’d rather be riding your bike right now, eh? So would we!
We’ve been riding a lot this year, on the dirt roads down to the Ranch, into the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Park with the five fall tours we did in October, from Scullbinder Ranch over the mountains to Telluride, and on the local Mancos trails with our new nine-month-old puppy, Saddle. This fall was the most spectacular, long-lasting fall we have ever experienced in Colorado! Normally we have to go into the mountains to see the wildest colors. Not this year. The valleys were the place to be.
Doom even got in a 10-day ride in Alaska. He repeated a variation of a Nebesna to McCarthy trip he’s done before, but this time with two boats and one partner. The last time he did it with four people and one boat. Needless to say, he and Tyler finished the latest trip much faster and with significantly less suffering. Click here to see some Instagram pics.
Trips!
We’ve also got numerous personal bicycle trips on the horizon—a fatbike hut trip in Maine, urban bikepacking in the DC area, a movie about desert bikerafting.
And, great news, we just got word we have permits for next year in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. So tomorrow we are off to the northern section of Lake Powell on an exploratory recon mission. The lake has fallen, and the Colorado River has come back to life, complete with fast-moving water and some big rapids, or so we hear… We’ll post photos and videos of our adventure next week, and we’ll update our course descriptions. We suspect one of our beginner courses may now be an intermediate trip. Stay tuned for details!
Cha, cha, Cha changes…
As far as what’s to come. We’ve made some changes to how we are going to do things next year.
- We’ve scheduled a dozen spring and fall courses, which you can find on our Events Page, some of which are already filling up.
- With a few exceptions, we will no longer be scheduling Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Park Tours last minute or catering to small groups. You’ll have to sign up for one of our existing tours in the spring or fall. See the events page.
- We are running our first Advanced Expedition Packrafting Course w/ Swiftwater Rescue Certification and offering 10% off if you sign up and pay the deposit by December 31st.
- And finally, we are launching Corporate Adventure Retreats. We’re offering 15-20% off as part of our introductory deal, also through December 31.
Singetrack awaits
Soooo with all that said, we know you may be sitting on your butt right now reading this (cause we are sitting on our butts writing this at Scullbinder Ranch right now). But fear not, the single track and dirt roads await. We invite you to suggest to the powers that be at your company that your staff really needs some team-building experiences in a packraft, on a bicycle or doing both. Or, if that doesn’t work, just ditch work for a week and join us on an course. We’re here to help make your wildest, “Type 2 fun” dream adventures come true 😉
