Durango's 1st Ever Kids Packrafting Camp!
Course Overview
We’ve partnered with 4Corners Riversports to bring you Durango’s 1st ever Kids Packrafting Camp.
- ✅Dates: July 14-16, Monday-Thursday, 9am-4:30pm
- ✅Cost: $300, 8 kids max, two guides
- ✅Partial or full scholarships available for LGBTQ+ and Latino, Indigenous, black and other kids of color.
- ✅This NEW camp is for kids ages 12-18.
Itinerary
- 📅On the morning of Day 1, we’ll meet at 4Corners Riversports ready to learn the basics of packrafting in their pool. We’ll blow up our boats, learn about our safety gear, how to hold our paddles and how to get in and out of our packrafts. After lunch we will walk upriver a few miles and paddle back to the shop, where you’ll pick your kids up at 4:30pm. Your child will need a sufficiently-sized backpack for Day 1 to carry her/his/their equipment. A 50-70L will suffice.
- 📅Day 2, we’ll review skills we learned on Day 1 in the flat water at Oxbow Park. After lunch, we’ll make our way to 29th Street Park, where you will pick up your kids at 4:30pm.
- 📅Day 3, you’ll drop your kids off at 29th Street Park, and the kids will packraft all the way to the kayak play park at Santa Rita Park, where you’ll pick them up at 4:30pm.

Payment in full is due upon registration. Due to the low cost of this course, no refunds or reschedules will be allowed.

What's Included
This course includes a packraft, PFD, paddle, helmet and transportation to the put in and take outs. You just need to get your child to 4Corners Riversports.
What's Not Included
Lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, warm clothes, sun hats for off-the-water activities.
Instructors
Waldo Aguayo
Waldo is a professional adventure tourism guide who specializes in water sports, mainly in packrafting. He has nine years of experience touring the Northern and Southern Chilean Patagonia. He first started packrafting seven years ago and quickly pioneered several routes on various rivers, fjords and lagoons in Patagonia. In 2019 he founded @scoutingrios, a guide service that runs tours, classes, clinics and packrafting expeditions in Patagonia.

Armida Huerta Adventure Fund Scholarships
Partial to full scholarships are available for local (Montezuma and La Plata Counties) girls of color and kids in the LGBTQ+ community through the Armida Huerta Adventure Fund. Please fill out this application form if you would like to be considered or have your child considered. Kids under 18 need to have a parent or guardian sign the waiver to take this course.
